you can read below everything about mammography and breast self-exam (when and why it should be done)

a mammogram shows lumps or masses. it is up to the doc to figure if they? it is a lump and what to do about it. if u did a self exam and found a lump or if the mammogram did don’t worry til u get an answer from the doc. sometimes it is just the way they squish u and nothing at all. a biopsy is the only way to tell if it is a cancerous growth. i know it is scary but try not to worry til the answer is in. hope this helps.

The cancer that was most likely to kill back in the 60s is now the cancer LEAST likely to kill. Why? because of mammgography. Ductal Carcinoma in Situ (DCIS) is often found on mammography before it is felt. And there is a 95% survival if that area is <1 cm (half inch) in size.
The pure answer to your question, however, is no. Only by looking at tissue under a microscope can a cancer be confirmed.

it shows if there is a mass in the breast, if it’s possitive other tests should be done to see if the mass is malignant or beneign
